Motorola Moto X4 with dual rear camera, Snapdragon 630 SoC launched in India, Price starting at Rs. 20,999: specifications, features, launch offers and more

Motorola Moto X4 was first unveiled at IFA 2017 in September. Today, Lenovo-owned Motorola is all set to launch its new smartphone in India, the Moto X4. The smartphone will be available via Flipkart and Moto Hubs in India. Sales will kick off tonight at 11:59PM. The Moto X4 has been launched in two variants – 32GB storage with 3GB RAM priced at Rs 20,999, and 64GB storage  with 4GB RAM priced at Rs 22,999. It will be available in Super Black and Sterling Blue colour variants.

As for launch offers, the Moto X4 will be available on Flipkart with additional Rs. 2,500 discount on exchange of your old smartphone (Rs. 3,000 if exchanging select Moto smartphones), up to 10 percent off with HDFC Bank credit and debit cards, a Buyback Guarantee of 50 percent of the smartphone's value, and EMI schemes. If you are an Airtel user, you can get 340GB of free data on purchasing the Moto X4.

The Moto X4 highlight features are dual rear camera, front and back glass design, IP68 certification for water and dust resistance, Snapdragon 630 SoC and support for both Google Assistant and Amazon Alexa, however, this feature won't be accessible until Amazon releases the Moto Alexa app. It does not support for the Moto Mods modular accessory platform, however, as that is only compatible with the Moto Z phones. The Moto X4 also comes with Moto Key, a built-in app for managing passwords and Bluetooth support for four different devices simultaneously.

Design: The Moto X4 is flaunting an aluminum frame and glass back design. The Corning Gorilla Glass protects both front and back of the smartphone. On the rear side, the upper half houses a circular dial inside dual-camera module along with dual-tone LED flash. There is a slight camera bump too, and it may be a bit bothersome for some. The front is dominated by a display, front camera with an LED flash, earpiece sit on the top of the display, whereas the home button integrated with a fingerprint sensor is placed below the display. On the right, you have the volume buttons and the power/sleep button. The hybrid SIM card slot is placed on the top, whereas the USB Type-C port and the 3.5mm headphone socket are at the bottom.

Moto X4 specifications, features

The Moto X4 sports a 5.2-Inch Full HD LTS IPS display with pixel density of 424ppi. The display is covered with Corning Gorilla glass protection. It is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 630 octa-core SoC clocked at 2.2GHz with Adreno 508 GPU.

The Moto X4 sports a dual rear camera setup, with one 12-megapixel Dual Autofocus sensors with f/2.0 aperture and 1.4-micron pixels, while the other 8-megapixel ultra-wide angle with 120-degree field of view, an f/2.2 aperture, and 1.12-micron pixels. The setup allows you to capture standard and wide-angle photos, and also lets you add DSLR-like bokeh effects to your photos. There is also a selective background mode that lets you keep the subject in focus while background is black and white, or vice-versa. The front camera has an 16-megapixel sensor with an f/1.7 aperture, and 1.0-micron pixels.

On the connectivity front, the smartphone features 4G VoLTE, Bluetooth v4.2, USB Type-C port, dual-SIM card slots, GPS, Wi-Fi 802.11ac, NFC, FM radio, and a 3.5mm headphone jack. Sensors on board include Gravity, Proximity, Accelerometer, Ambient Light, Magnetometer, Gyroscope and Sensor Hub. It is backed by a 3,000mAh battery with fast charging support. The Moto X4 runs on Android 7.1 Nougat out-of-the-box.

You can also wave your hand to trigger Moto display, which is nothing but the Always On display that shows notifications and time. There is also one button navigation mode that gets rid of the Android navigation buttons, and lets you use gestures on the fingerprint sensor to navigate through the menu. Swipe to the left opens recent apps menu, whereas swipe to the left acts as a back key. Tapping the fingerprint sensor takes you to the home screen, whereas tap and hold for one second locks the device. Lastly, tap and hold invokes Google Assistant.
